Warranty & Known Issues
Warranty Terms
YUME Scooters offer a 12-month limited warranty for the original owner against manufacturing defects, starting from the date the customer receives the scooter. The warranty covers essential components like the frame, electric motor, battery, display, and controller. To initiate a claim, customers must contact support@yumescooter.com or use live chat, providing the order number, proof of purchase, and photos or videos of the damaged product. YUME will not replace parts without visual proof.
What's covered: Manufacturing defects in structural and mechanical features. If a part quality issue causes damage, YUME will send a replacement part with installation guidance. Costs for required parts and shipping are free if the customer can perform the repair at home. Labor at YUME's service centers is free, but customers are responsible for shipping the scooter to the repair center.
What's excluded: Damage from collisions, improper riding, overloading, unsafe environments, water immersion (e.g., heavy rain), dormant battery damage from lack of care, unauthorized modification or alteration of internal wiring, or if the scooter was transferred or purchased from other platforms. Normal wear and tear, including fatigue damage, is not covered. The warranty is void if the scooter is subjected to abuse, neglect, improper repair or maintenance, or the installation of incompatible parts. Scratched painted surfaces are addressed if reported within seven days of receipt.
Known Issues
Common complaints and issues reported by users include quality control problems, such as pieces falling off, loose and wobbly components, and stripped threads. Some users have experienced issues with battery failure, stem breaking, and poor suspension performance, with some reporting that the front suspension bottoms out easily. Customer service has also been a point of contention, with reports of unhelpful responses, refusal to honor warranties, and difficulties with returns or cancellations. There have been instances where YUME allegedly requested sensitive personal information for order verification, leading to concerns about scamming. Some users also note that the folding mechanism can be problematic and that brake lights are small and not very visible on certain models.
